Yes, its Mother's Day. And I'm supposed to be out with my in-laws, giving Nana her finished quilt. Only I spent the entirety of yesterday watching TV and fighting a nasty cold. So, the quilt didn't get done this week, as I had planned. I did make some progress in the last week though, and here it is.
This is what I had planned, but the choppyness of the inner blue border always bothered me. Even more so when I put it together.
See what I mean? It looks a little awkward.
So I took it apart, and came up with this:
Much better!
However, it is still not going to get it done today. So in a way, this annoying cold is a bit of a blessing, because it gives me another week to work on this quilt. What's the line from the Richard Rahl books? "Nothing is ever easy.."
Easy is fun, but challenging is so rewarding! This looked great before the change and it looks amazing after the change. Great job! I hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is stunning and the change to the border looks great, well done!
Clever clever idea to rework the border, and great ending.
ReplyDeleteNice! The change is great. Funny where art takes us sometimes isn't it?

Oh wow! What a beautiful change! I have to say when I first saw the sketch I thought meh, that's not so bad. But as soon as I saw what you did with it, I can definitely see the improvement!
ReplyDeleteAll those points are breathtaking!! The colors are very nice:)
ReplyDeleteThank-you everyone for the comments and input. If there is one thing I've learned about quilting in the last year is that it is art, and art takes time, sweat, blood, and sometimes, tears! But it is so, so exciting to have a project you are happy with at the end.
ReplyDeleteTerrific paper piecing! I spent Mother's Day on the couch with a bad cold. I feel your pain!
